Privacy Policy

Overview

LoBlue Zones (“the App”) is a personal habit companion. It has no accounts, no advertising and no payments.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the App keeps on your phone, what (if anything) is sent to our companion server, and how you can erase it.

The App and this companion server are operated by Kit Ridsdale. Questions: kit.ridsdale@icloud.com.

Information stored on your device

Most of your data never leaves the phone. On-device storage may include:

• The name you choose to display in the App

• Photos you pick for your profile or for people in your circle (kept in the App’s own storage, not your system photo library write-back)

• People you add to your circle, contact cadence, and notes you write about moments with them

• Plant variety logs, custom plants, purpose sentences, movement minutes, meal pauses and mini-game rounds

• Local reminder schedules and app preferences

The App does not read your phone’s address book, contacts, email inbox or location.

Anonymous device identifier

When the App talks to the companion server it sends a random UUID stored in the iOS Keychain. That identifier is not your name, email, phone number or Apple ID.

On the server the identifier is hashed with a salt before it is used as a storage key. We cannot reverse the hash to recover the original UUID from storage alone.

Information sent to the companion server

The companion API is hosted at https://api.lobluezones.site. Only the following may leave the device:

1. Anonymous weekly statistics — counts such as distinct plants, minutes on your feet, stair flights, circle moments, purpose prompts answered and meal pauses, plus simple boolean flags (for example whether you reached thirty plant kinds). These numbers contain no names, notes, photos or free text.

2. Optional private history snapshot — a backup of your circle, plant, movement and purpose records keyed only to the anonymous device identifier. The snapshot is not used for advertising or sold. It exists so a reinstalled phone can recover your history.

3. Content catalogue downloads — the App may fetch the plant catalogue, prompts and related curated content. Those requests are not used to build a personal profile.

We do not collect payment data (there are no purchases). We do not serve ads. We do not sell or rent personal data.

Community aggregates

Anonymous weekly statistics from many devices may be combined into medians and shares (for example the median number of distinct plants reported for a week).

Aggregates are withheld until enough distinct devices have reported a week, so that individual devices are not identifiable from the published numbers.

Retention and deletion

On-device data remains until you delete the App or use “Erase everything on this phone” in Settings.

Erasing everything removes local records and asks the companion server to delete the private snapshot tied to this phone’s anonymous identifier.

Anonymous weekly summary counts may remain in aggregated form after an erase, because they cannot be linked back to you once the device identifier is no longer presented. If you need help with a deletion request, email the developer.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
